Background
Driven by a commitment to creating vibrant communities, Denman Prospect features a curated collection of sculptures throughout the residential estate. The sculptures are embedded in the landscaped and civic spaces to foster a sense of place for residents and create a memorable experience for visitors.
Renowned artist Benjamin Shine was commissioned to create Everchange, a large-scale kinetic artwork inspired by the pin oak leaf. Drawing on the movement of the leaves in wind and their colourful transformation through Autumn, the artwork captures the perpetual cycle of nature.
The concept was brought to life in collaboration with Vert Design, translating Benjamin’s concept into a design that expresses the leaves fluttering in constant motion. Taking the artwork through the Detailed Design phase, Tilt was engaged by Benjamin to bring the design to the finished form, detailing the intricate parts and refining the motion and engineering of the sculpture.

Design Approach
Artist Benjamin Shine began Everchange with meticulous prototyping, experimenting with materials and methods to explore its movement. Once the final prototype was defined, he approached Vert Design to translate the concept into 3D design, testing ways to replicate spinning ‘leaves’ in the wind.
Tilt was initially engaged by Benjamin to manage the fabrication and installation, and the scope soon expanded into detailed design. Working closely with Benjamin and Vert, Tilt cycled through further prototypes to perfect the spinning mechanism while preserving Benjamin’s original vision.

- Built on Collaboration
A truly collaborative design process was key to realising Everchange. Combining expertise and developing countless prototypes allowed every challenge to be resolved, delivering a result true to Benjamin’s vision. Even the colours—custom-matched to the pin oak’s shifting hues—were refined through multiple iterations to perfectly capture nature’s transformation.
- Innovation in Fabrication
Tilt introduced key fabrication efficiencies to increase productivity and stay on budget. The 10,000 laser-cut aluminium discs remained attached to their sheets for batch powder coating, while spinner brackets, cut from aluminium tubes, were riveted to the arms and coated as a single unit—streamlining the process and reducing material costs without compromising quality.
- Enginnering Motion
We tested and refined the thickness of various aluminium sheets and attachment methods to ensure the rotation mechanism was light, balanced, and responsive to the wind. With integrated bearings and axles, each spinner was engineered for smooth motion, hand-assembled by Tilt, and installed on-site by our team.

Recently recognised by CODAworx as one of the Top 100 public art projects of the year, Everchange also received a Merit award in the Landscape category for its innovative use of materials and its dynamic engagement with nature.
