Chromatic Oscillation is a bold mural artwork by Melbourne artist Drez, one of the most compelling artists in the city’s public art scene. With roots in graffiti and street art, his signature optical illusions transform urban spaces into immersive, verdant places that invite people to pause and experience the city in new and exciting ways.

Drez’s approach draws connection and inclusivity by avoiding specific narratives, making his art accessible to everyone.

Spanning 2,000 square metres, the mural fills the entire facade of ESR Australia’s distribution centre along the Princes Highway in Laverton, Victoria. With its shifting colour gradients, the artwork interacts and blurs with the motion of passing motorists, creating a dynamic, ephemeral experience that mirrors the energy and vibrancy of the city.

Building on Cultural Capital’s curatorial plan, Tilt supported the process of turning Drez’s artistic vision into full-scale reality. Providing initial consultancy to guide the artist brief, Tilt project managed the work through to completion.

Working closely with Drez, Tilt translated the conceptual artwork to scale, using industrial design methodology to preserve its integrity. Tilt also oversaw the installation and managed the commercial deliverables of administration, procurement and site planning, ensuring a seamless, efficient outcome.
