Commencing her term in January 2026, Elizabeth Lewis, Public Art Director at Tilt Industrial Design, has been named a NSW Councillor for the Design Institute of Australia (DIA). The appointment recognises Elizabeth’s contribution to the national design industry and the vital role women play in shaping the future of design and culture.

Over her decade-long career at Tilt, Elizabeth has carved an influential space for public art delivery, enabling artists and creatives to pursue complex narratives that shape how we experience our cities.

As the national body for education, connection and advocacy in design, the DIA champions excellence and strengthens its impact across Australia’s culture, economy and built environment.

At the helm of public art at Tilt, and with a background in industrial design and research design, Elizabeth bridges the worlds of artists, architects, developers and communities. With her understanding of shaping public spaces that feel connected and meaningful, Elizabeth guides the public artwork process from early concept through to final installation while leading thoughtful and respectful community engagement.

Through Tilt’s growing portfolio of First Nations projects, Elizabeth has developed practical experience and an understanding of how to support Indigenous artists through their creative process.

Looking ahead, Elizabeth is driven to support artists in creating meaningful artistic narratives through our cities—revealing stories of people, place and cultures that shape the public realm.
